🌼 Growing Information
Virginia Knotweed (Persicaria virginiana) is a native perennial adapted to deciduous woodlands and shaded habitats. It prefers partial shade to full shade and grows best in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Mature plants typically reach 2–4 feet in height and bloom from mid-summer through early fall with delicate white to pale pink flowers. This species is native to eastern North America and is hardy in USDA zones 4–8.
Seeds benefit from cold stratification and are best fall-sown outdoors or stratified before spring planting. Germination may be gradual, but once established, plants are long-lived and gently self-seeding without becoming aggressive.
