Back to buying optionsSugar Maple Tree – Live Bare Root Seedling | 24–36 Inches Tall | Acer Saccharum | Fall Color Shade Tree | Zones 3–8
Grow one of North America’s most iconic shade trees with this live Sugar Maple, botanically known as Acer saccharum. You will receive one young tree approximately 24–36 inches (2–3 feet) tall, shipped bare root for easy planting.
Sugar Maple is especially prized for its spectacular autumn foliage. As temperatures cool, the green leaves can transform into brilliant shades of golden yellow, burnt orange, and red, creating an impressive seasonal landscape display.
Given adequate space and proper growing conditions, Sugar Maple develops into a substantial shade tree approximately 60–70 feet tall with a broad canopy. It is an excellent choice for larger yards, traditional landscapes, and properties where a long-lived specimen tree is desired.
During the dormant season, your tree may arrive completely leafless. This is normal winter dormancy and does not indicate that the tree is dead.

💡 Care Tip: Plant your bare-root Sugar Maple as soon as practical after arrival. Keep the roots protected from drying out while preparing the planting location. Dig a hole wide enough to spread the roots naturally, plant at the original root-collar depth, backfill gently, and water thoroughly. Maintain consistent moisture during the tree's first growing seasons while the root system becomes established. Because mature Sugar Maples become large trees, select a permanent location with ample room away from buildings and overhead obstructions.
