⚠️ Important Plant Identification Issue
Before publishing this listing, I would verify the botanical identification.
The current description calls the plant both “Madagascar Hibiscus” and Hibiscus moscheutos. Hibiscus moscheutos is commonly known as Rose Mallow / Swamp Rose Mallow and is native to eastern North America, so describing H. moscheutos as “Madagascar Hibiscus” appears inconsistent.
This matters for Etsy because buyers may purchase based on expected flower color, mature size, hardiness, and winter behavior.
If the plant is confirmed as Hibiscus moscheutos, I recommend marketing it as:
Hardy Hibiscus / Rose Mallow – Hibiscus moscheutos
If “Madagascar Hibiscus” is the verified trade/common name for a different species you're actually growing, use its correct botanical name instead.
🌺 Flowering
Mature plants can produce showy hibiscus-type flowers under suitable growing conditions.
Your purchase is a 3–5" starter plant. Flowers or buds are not guaranteed at shipment.
If mature blooms are pictured, clearly label those photographs:
MATURE FLOWER EXAMPLE – YOU RECEIVE A 3–5" STARTER
☀️ General Care
Until the species is confirmed, I would keep care instructions conservative rather than promising characteristics that may belong to Hibiscus moscheutos.
Provide:
Light: Bright light / sun appropriate to the confirmed species
Soil: Fertile, well-draining growing medium
Water: Maintain appropriate moisture during establishment
Plant Size: Approximately 3–5" at shipment
Family: Malvaceae
Cold Protection: Follow requirements for the confirmed species
📦 Starter Plant Notice
YOU WILL RECEIVE A YOUNG 3–5" ROOTED STARTER PLANT — NOT A MATURE FLOWERING HIBISCUS.
Live plants naturally vary in:
- Height
- Leaf count
- Stem development
- Foliage color
- Root development
- Seasonal appearance
Minor cosmetic changes or temporary wilting can also occur during shipping.
