🌼 Growing Information
American Bugleweed (Lycopus americanus) is a native perennial adapted to wetlands and low-lying areas. It prefers full sun to partial shade and grows best in moist to wet soil, tolerating seasonal flooding. Mature plants typically reach 1–3 feet in height and bloom in summer with small white flowers. This species is native throughout much of North America and is hardy in USDA zones 3–8.
Seeds benefit from cold stratification and are best fall-sown outdoors or stratified before spring planting. Once established, plants spread readily and return reliably each year in suitable moisture conditions.
