🌼 Growing Information
Common Name: Lithops, Living Stones, Living Stone Succulent
Botanical Name: Lithops spp.
Plant Type: Mesemb succulent
Growth Stage: Young seedlings
Light: Very bright light; acclimate gradually to stronger direct sun
Soil: Extremely fast-draining, mineral-rich succulent mix
Watering: Very sparingly and according to the plant’s seasonal growth cycle
Growth Rate: Slow
Mature Size: Typically around 0.5–1.5 inches across, depending on species and age
Container Friendly: Yes; excellent for shallow succulent containers
💡 Care Tip: Lithops have specialized watering requirements and should not be treated like typical houseplants. After arrival, carefully plant the bare-root seedlings in a gritty, fast-draining mineral mix and allow them time to settle. Avoid automatically watering whenever the soil looks dry; Lithops store substantial moisture in their leaves, and excessive watering is one of the easiest ways to lose them. During their leaf-replacement cycle, watering should generally be greatly reduced or withheld until the old leaves have substantially dried. Protect these tiny seedlings from freezing temperatures and introduce stronger sunlight gradually to prevent scorching.
📦 Shipping Note
These plants are extremely small—approximately 0.2–0.3 inch—and the listing is specifically for miniature seedlings rather than mature Lithops. Colors, markings, shapes, and varieties are randomly selected and will naturally vary. Orders are not recommended when temperatures along the shipping route are below 32°F because freezing conditions can severely damage live succulents.
